The Latvian Simulation Society, LSS

The Latvian Simulation Society (LSS) has been found in 1990 as the first professional simulation organization in the field of modeling and simulation in the post-Soviet area. Its members represent the main simulation centres in Latvia, including both academic and industrial sectors, in particular, operating at Riga Technical University, Latvian University, the Latvian University of Agriculture, Transport and Telecommunication Institute, as well as at industrial companies DATI Exigen Group and Solvers, Ltd.

The society performs regular activities at both national and international levels. It holds a seminar, where current research activities at involved organizations in the area of modelling and simulation are discussed. LSS is regularly involved into organization of international events. For instance, it hosted international conferences "Simulation, Gaming, Training and Business Process Reengineering in Operations" in 1996 (http://www.itl.rtu.lv/Riga_Conf96/) and 2000 (http://www.itl.rtu.lv/RigaConf2000/), "Harbour, Maritime & Multimodal Logistics Modelling and Simulation", HMS in 1998 (http://briedis.itl.rtu.lv/RigaWorkshop98/) and 2003 (http://briedis.itl.rtu.lv/RigaConf2003/), as well as the 2005 European Conference on Modelling and Simulation, ECMS 2005 (http://www.scs-europe.net/conf/esm2005/index.html).

At the EUROSIM Board meeting in Bratislava on December 11, 2006, the Latvian Simulation Society became an observer member of EUROSIM. In 2007 in Ljubljana, LSS was accepted as a full member of EUROSIM.
